Profile Information

How might your current work contribute to the Transition movement?
I am currently working on my PhD dissertation in Transformative Studies and Ecological Healing with California Institute of Integral Studies (San Francisco). My topic includes transdisciplinary ecological research on the creative process of wilderness conservation within the context of two years I spent working with the Snowy Plover. The transdisciplinary aspect includes a look at the ecological complexity of the San Luis Obispo county ecosystem and how it interacts with ecological healing.
In what ways do you personally identify with the Transition movement? Why are you interested?
In my life and work transition and transformation are the name of the game. I'm in the process of opening myself to as many creative avenues as possible, and the transition movement came knocking at my door and said, "Here I am". So, I'm engaging the process. And, of course, my focus is ecological healing, and diversity of input is key.
What background and skills do you bring to this community?
My academic studies, as previously mentioned. My work with the Cal Poly Organic Farm, and the Cal Poly agriculture program. My work with State Parks, Audobon Society, Morro Bay National Estuary Program, and The Land Conservancy. My husband is an Environmental Scientist with State Parks. I mostly write and serve the wild whenever possible. My experience raising my daughter and my interaction with the ecologically conscious mothers in the SLO community, who are greatly concerned about our children's future.
What aspects of the Transition Town movement most interests you?
Everything.
