Profile Information

How might your current work contribute to the Transition movement?
I am engaged in leading Joanna Macy's Work that Reconnects and would like to bring that into the community development work in the Bay Area.
In what ways do you personally identify with the Transition movement? Why are you interested?
I think this is the right movement/model at the right time and am very inspired by the self sufficiency and localizing focus of the movement. I think it is time to stop fighting the politicians and corporations as they are not listening and put our energy on our own communities. Hopefully, as this grows, more and more money and energy will be drained from the big global institutions and we can create laws and structures to keep the money in our own communities.
What background and skills do you bring to this community?
I am an Awakening the Dreamer Symposium Facilitator and am honing my skills as a teacher, facilitator and community organizer. I have nonprofit program coordinating experience and event production. I have a BA in environmental studies and psychology and an MA in humanities and leadership with an emphasis in culture, ecology and sustainable community and a concentration in consciousness, healing and ecology. I am a trained Awakening the Dreamer Facilitator and have done Joanna Macy's Intensive in The Work that Reconnects and attended 3 other weekend workshops with her.
What aspects of the Transition Town movement most interests you?
I am most interested in the education and outreach aspect and the heart and soul working group. I also want to do the training and to do a permaculture class.
