Profile Information

How might your current work contribute to the Transition movement?
I have just completed the Transition Initiative Training at Dancing Deer Farm (Jan 09) and I have participated in a Sustainability Book group at Oak Creek Commons co-housing since mid 2007.
I am also on the Board of the Institute For Sustainable Living.
In what ways do you personally identify with the Transition movement? Why are you interested?
I have been interested in living more simply for a number of years which began when we lived in Santa Cruz, CA. It was there I began to understand that "the Earth is our Mother, we must take care of Her". I am even more interested now as I have 2 young grandchildren. And, as I am originally from the UK, I am inspired because that's where it originated.
What background and skills do you bring to this community?
My background has been in teaching and counseling. I am currently an artist. I also have skills in sewing, knitting, crochet and hand building pottery. I am interested in all manner of hand crafts. I have good ideas for solving practical problems.
What aspects of the Transition Town movement most interests you?
I enjoy networking and still have many friends in England so I am already spreading the word there and in this country.
I am a facilitator for the Awakening the Dreamer, Changing the Dream symposium with the Pachamama Alliance which is a great tool for raising awareness.
Also, living in co-housing with other like minded people, I feel supported and willing to promote the growth of this movement.
Your Favorite Books/Websites/Blogs/RSS Feeds for Information about the Transition Movement
I have read "Woman on the Edge of Time" by Marge Piercy 3 X
and had not realised until now why it caught my attention so.

"Animal, Vegetable, Miracle" by Barbara Kingsolver

"A New Earth" by Eckhart Tolle
