How long will this be there, or was this just for the show?
Profile Information
- How might your current work contribute to the Transition movement?
- We are creating the conditions for homegrown food and medicine. We do this by using Permaculture Principles to help lead us to the most Sustainable Designs possible. We work with all budgets because its not about the money anymore its about getting everyone growing food and getting reconnected with Mother Earth.
- In what ways do you personally identify with the Transition movement? Why are you interested?
- We identify with the Transition movement in that we are actually making it happen. Not just in our backyards but in everyone's backyard. We are interested in the Transition Movement because we believe that there will be a need for people to band together and share skills and resources. This is a great tool not only for our local communities but also for the creation of our Global Community.
- What background and skills do you bring to this community?
- Ma is a certified Permaculture Designer who studied with Larry Santoyo of Earth Flow Designs. Jordan has immersed himself in a life of Permaculture for the past four years on the central coast of California, creating Edible Landscapes in client's yards - even public spaces!
Wo is a certified Permaculture Designer who studied with Bill Wilson, Wayne Weiseman and Mark Shepard of Midwest Permaculture. For the past 25 yrs Meleah has used Permaculture Principles in her life. Meleah has had Edible Landscapes surrounding her most of her life, with emphasis on garden medicinals and culinaries.
Both Jordan and Meleah are experienced advocates of permaculture. They know that 80% of Americans living in homes with access to a yard have the potential for Edible Landscapes. That potential is enormous. We encourage Perennial Landscapes as they take care of themselves and require very little work compared to annual vegetable gardens. How Local Can You Get? How about your yard? FOOD NOT LAWNS!
We volunteer our time to educate the youth by working with our public and private schools from around the county to get their outdoor classrooms in top shape with the resources that we have. The idea is to not have any NDD (nature deficit disorder) in our kids, and reconnect everyone back to Mother Earth.
With the assistance of the MAWO * energies all things are possible.............Plant a Seed Everyday.
MAWO *(The creation from the void is the Ma energy and finishing touches is the Wo) This principle sustains all life.

I have a huge back yard at this place I am renting. My landlord is totally open to having it converted to a garden.
Was thinking that if you would like, I am offering the yard to you to hold a workshop. It is the perfect place I am thinking, for you to use for any kind of your educations you provide.

you two are awesome in what you are bringing to this county!!! with food not lawns, putting in food forests, having seed ball workshops, reinvigorating land and soil with mushroom compost, helping out with mud ovens, etc. etc....
I would recommend people who live in SLO county to check out their website and follow their activities and get involved! and check out some of Melea's videos on this site as well to get a feel for the fun and joy that they bring to their projects!
